| HYBRYDS 2000
Leipzig - Wave, Gotik Treffen 2001 Report from my first solo gig, announced as Hybryds but it was NA-DHA.We left Belgium Saturday morning, Dirk, Eric , Leigh and me.Almost 700 km later we were in Leipzig. This time there was no Chaos, we got an excellent welcome, passes and a great hotel. Saturdaynight: Die Halle. Best band : Von Magnet, yes ok they are from Belgium, but this is real music with real people and real intruments. Why the hell were they programmed at the Halle? Sunday , I get nervous, between : GEN ,ANGELS & AGONY,KIFOTH ,STIN SCATZOR, KIEW,P.A.L. ,DIVE...there I was, all these bands were playing "old school "industrial. And I was here with my self invented " voodoo dub", a mix of experimental use of human voices and trip hop rhythms. Aiaiaiaiai. The hall is not filled when I get on stage.I feel better knowing, Leigh is doing the mix . The PA sounds great and I ask the monitor man to put the sound down. I start, but suddenly there is only noise, and no monitor man in sight.I try with some pathetic gestures to ask Dirk to fix the monitor , but the desk is to complicated, I decide to cut the intro and start the rhythms, ok there I go, try to concentrate on the music from the hall, I get the feeling Leigh is doing a great job. All those bright stagelight makes me blind for the audience, I can not see if they move, or how many there are... Although they get louder and louder between the songs. Ok the last song and that's it, I am a bit dizzy from the trance I feel when performing, and want to leave the stage, but what a noice coming out the hall from the audience. Suddenly the monitor man is standing near me, ordering me to play more, it was a great sound he trembled his eyes wide open, turned out that he left his post and went between the audience to enjoy the show, what can one say one this? By cutting the experimental pieces I was a bit short in new songs, So I remixed a song with Herman Sherman , good old filter mate from the cyberpunk past.. Thanx you were a great audience. SOUNDS FROM DOWN BELOW : MAGAZIN4 - (16/03/02) Ah Cama-Sotz, Frames a Second, This morn'Omina, Dead man's Hill and Hybryds Some picts of HYBRYDS LIVE (New project : Na-Dha) 16-03-02 : Magasin 4, Brussels, nobody noticed I was playing until Gerd from Frames a Second went to the mixingdesk and put the sound on a decent level. What is this with those fucking mixingmen, the original mixingman, delivered with this mixingdesk, disappeared to go eating while I performed.... Haydhra : Magthea & Leigh Hunt, one great live gig in Germany ( 1999). After 14 months of recording basic tracks and demo mixes, Leigh decides to get a bigger hard-disc. By doing this he wipes out all the recordings. So sorry , nothing left... hybryds@telenet.be |
